Hooked Rugs at Savory Maine

This past March, students and friends of Diane Langley showed their work at the bright sunny Savory Maine Restaurant in Damariscotta. Owner Grace Goldberg shows artwork regularly and has a fondness for fiber. Diane Langley, the show’s curator, is an artist and teacher who works from her Westport Island studio/home where she offers rug hooking classes and hosts a regular Monday group. Always challenging her students with interesting artful exercises, Diane gathers work for a show at least once each year. On a cold snowy day in the middle of a very long winter, the reception for this show was one of Savory Maine’s best attended. On the day of the photo shoot, the group had gathered to demonstrate while diners ate lunch, a Farmers’ Market set up, and a fishmonger and a bread baker displayed fresh wares. Work by Beth Quivey, Jean Boeckeler, Susan Schweigard, Catherine Dupuis-Tait, Georgia Sledge, Charlotte Henry and Elaine Eskesen was included.
