The inaugural Harpswell Open Studio Tour took place July 13-14, 2024 and included “Open Studios and Display Spaces” in and around Harpswell Neck: Sebascodegan Island, Orrs Island and Bailey Island. 24 locations took part and attendance on this very hot weekend was very high. The event included painters, potters, jewelers, tapestry artists, quilters, furniture makers, metal sculptors, and others. Most participants I found in travels were enjoying a good turnout and very interested visitors.
As part of my travels for Maine Fiberarts, we like to visit studios to discover new artists and new work. I was able to take in several studios over two days, and these included some artists who were new to us, and some who were familiar.
An added feature was the 28th Annual Ocean Waves Quilters Quilt Show at the Orr’s Island Schoolhouse on Orr’s Island, which took place on the same weekend. My tour started there.
