Far Western Maine – Day Two

Fiber & Vine, McLaughlin Gardens, Parris House Wool Works: When in Norway, Maine, a must-stop is the beautiful yarn and wine shop of Kimberly Hamlin called Fiber & Vine. We have visited before, but this time, we were picking up quilted work for our current show at Maine Fiberarts. Kim is a wonderful artist who felts, quilts, hooks, sews, teaches, dances and keeps shop. She had just completed the gray linen piece (shown against a door) for a clergywoman who wanted the essence of waves incorporated into her stole.

We briefly toured the McLaughlin Gardens located in downtown Norway, a flowering shrub and lilac-infused respite from the hubbub of the surrounding area.

Then, it was off to Parris House Wool Works in Paris Hill. Elizabeth Miller was conducting a rug hooking workshop, so we didn’t tarry, but stayed long enough to see her yarns, dyed fabrics, restored rooms and surrounding lupine.

A fun fiber trip through far Western Maine with many new contacts made.
