This Spring, we held a workshop in freeform quilting, taught by artist Diane Langley of Westport Island. We used fabrics from our stashes with some trading among students. We used scissors instead of rotary cutters in order to be close to the work. And we began with squares and rectangles and added on. At the end of four weeks, we challenged each other to finish work and we installed the finished quilts in The Red Studio. Pictured above, is a detail of one by Don Talbot. He completed so many quilts as a result of the class that we offered him a solo show of his work in Maine Fiberarts’ main gallery during November and December 2013. Featured also are quilts by Wendy Rose, Sue Allen, Peg Parsons and Liette Morin.
